What happens in a Tree Babies Class
There are 8 key elements to a Tree Babies Class (see image on the right) including mindfulness and breathing techniques to ground yourself at the start of the class, a chance to go off on your own with your baby (in a sling) to forest bathe, connect and introduce baby to nature for around 15 mins, to sit/be still for around 5mins or to journal any feelings or emotions that may have come up during class. Parents then return with their babies to the group base area where we create a nature mandala as a group before we enjoy a herbal tea in the forest and a chance to chat and reflect on what we are grateful for.
What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing comes from the Japanese term "Shinrin-Yoku" which translated into English means Forest Bathing - taking in the Forest atmosphere during a leisurely walk. In Japan in the 1980's Forest Bathing became a therapy for preventative healthcare and healing. Researchers mainly in Japan and South Korea found that spending time amongst the trees (forest bathing) creates positive, calming neuropsychological effects through changes in the nervous system, reducing the stress hormone cortisol and boosting the immune system. Every study that has been done so far has shown a reduction in stress, anger, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness.
Spending just 15mins Forest Bathing can lower blood pressure, reduce stress levels, and improve concentration and mental clarity. Forest Bathing has also been found to increase human NK cells - our Natural Killer Cells / immune cells which help to fight cancers and tumours. There are now 44 accredited Shinrin-Yoku Forest in Japan with the research conducted helping to establish Shinrin-Yoku and Forest Therapy throughout the world.

Why is a Tree Babies Class Beneficial for my Baby?
"Babies thrive out of doors. They sleep better, eat better, look better, play better and learn better." Magda Gerber

- Babies are like little sponges and are constantly learning. By allowing our babies to connect with nature, right from an early age, we can help them understand there is nothing to fear in nature and that it offers so many beautiful gifts.
- Research by the Journal of Sleep shows that time in nature may help babies establish healthy sleep patterns.
What are the benefits of Babywearing
and why do classes promote the use of Slings?
Babies rely on their parent or caregiver to survive - the closer they are to you the safer they feel and they will receive all the important things they need - warmth, food and protection. A sling creates all of these things whilst also mimicking the womb (the place they are used to)
Babywearing means you can respond to your babies needs whilst having your hands free! If we go back in history slings were used by the parent or caregiver so they could gather food, wash and protect their young from harm, allowing them to do all the things that needed to be done.
There are so many benefits to Babywearing in addition to the above which include...
⭐️ Helps parent and baby to bond and create secure attachments.
⭐️ Aids Baby’s digestion which can help reflux and colic.
⭐️ Helps parents become more attuned to their babies needs by being close and watching their cues.
⭐️ Helps baby to grow confident and aware of their surroundings.
⭐️ Helps to decrease the risk of baby developing Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome)
AmaWraps have some beautiful MULTI AWARD WINNING baby slings/wraps as well as some lovely maternity wear and if you use the code Pattacake at the checkout you will receive 10% off your order! Go check them out ♥️
